Vibrogram
|
Vibrogram, a graphical curve showing the vibration sensibility relative a normative age mapped reference. A vibrogram is recorded with a VibroSense Meter, which investigates the Vibrotactile Perception Thresholds (VPT) of the hand at multiple frequencies between 8 to 500 Hz, i.e. Multi-frequency Tactilometry The concept is that the various mechanoreceptors of the skin respond to various frequencies, and that assessment of perception for vibration within one frequency only, is not sufficient to get a total picture of the vibration sense. With the investigation, a vibrogram is produced, normally showing a characteristic shape. Impaired vibration sense results in characteristic modifications in the shape of the curve. For each investigation, an age-matched normal vibrogram with standard deviations appear on the screen. Thus, the patients recorded vibrogram can easily be compared with a normal vibrogram i.e. against normative age-matched thresholds.
